Howard R. Lipson, Ph.D.
Howard Lipson, Owner/Principal of Lipson & Co., is highly regarded as one of the industrys most intuitive and disciplined executive recruiters. Howard obtained his Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees in Organization Theory at Northwestern Universitys Industrial Engineering and Management Services Department. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Honors Psychology from Brandeis University.
After receiving his doctorate, Howard returned to Montreal and joined Astral Media, Canadas largest, fully integrated entertainment company. He began as Astrals Film and Television Coordinator, and reported directly to the Chairman/CEO. He oversaw co-productions with the US, Canada, and the United Kingdom, and received several motion picture Producer credits.
After five years, Howard became Vice President, Development & Acquisitions for RSL Films (now Alliance Atlantis Communications). Based in Montreal, he served as Producer of the feature film, Paradise, shot in Israel and distributed worldwide by Embassy Pictures.
In 1982, Howard moved to Los Angeles where he initially worked as Vice President of W.F. Hay & Co., an executive recruiting firm specializing in entertainment and high technology search with clients including Paramount, 20th Century-Fox, Embassy and New World Pictures.
In 1985, he established his executive search firm, Lipson & Co., based in Century City, California.
Howard serves on the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors of Starlight Children's Foundation of California, Arizona and Nevada. Starlight is a non-profit organization which grants wishes to chronically ill children throughout the US, Canada, England and Australia.
Howard is a member of the Producers Branch of the Academy of Canadian Cinema and of BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts).
Harriet L. Lipson
Harriet Lipson has over 15 years of advertising and marketing management experience with some of the most successful multinational agencies in the world including Ogilvy & Mather, Young & Rubicam, Wells, Rich, Greene and Ted Bates Worldwide.
She has worked alongside hundreds of highly skilled executives in the United States, Canada and Europe, marketing a wide variety of consumer products. These include toys (Mattel), food & beverage (Nestle, RJR Foods, Nabisco, Schweppes), health & beauty aids (Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer) wine & spirits (Corby Distilleries), pharmaceuticals (Burroughs-Wellcome, Merck Frosst), computer technology (Microsoft), and athletic apparel (LA Gear).
With this firsthand experience, Harriet has a thorough understanding of the executive requirements for these and other competitive industries. Since joining Lipson & Co. in 1990, she has completed numerous searches for Internet, marketing, licensing, toy, interactive, entertainment and consumer packaged goods companies. Her clients have included Vivendi Universal Interactive Publishing, Microsoft, Kodak, Coca Cola, Mattel, Saban Entertainment, Time Life Kids and Time Life Video, Disney Interactive, Corus Entertainment, Cinar Corp., Scholastic Internet Group, Bandai America, Acclaim Entertainment and Sammy Studios, 989 Studios (subsidiary of Sony), Havas Interactive, Kinkos, The Upper Deck Company, Giorgio Beverly Hills and Maybelline-Yardley. Her areas of expertise include merchandising, licensing, creative development and corporate communications, in addition to marketing, sales and the Internet.
Harriet is a native of Montreal and graduated from McGill University. She was hand-picked to participate in Ogilvy & Mathers Global Leadership Training Program. She relocated to California in 1984. Harriet is on the Board of Directors of Starlight Children's Foundation of California, Arizona and Nevada. In addition to Starlight Children's Foundation, her charities include Project Angel Food and The Humane Society of the United States.
